Why WBuilds?

WBuilds vs YouTube, Blueprints and Schematica

Four ways to follow a Minecraft build, compared on what decides whether you finish it. Videos, blueprints and schematic mods are fine. They were just never made to be followed block by block, on any edition, while you play.

Side by side

Eight things that matter once you are actually placing blocks.

Why each row lands where it does

A table of ticks is only worth as much as the reasoning behind it.

Step-by-step guidance
A video has the steps, but if you miss one you scrub back to find it. A blueprint shows the finished build and leaves the order to you. Schematica, or its successor Litematica, shows the whole build as ghost blocks with no order. WBuilds gives you one step at a time.
Exact material lists
Most videos never say how many blocks you need, so you guess. Blueprints rarely do either. Schematica can make a material list from a file. Every WBuilds build starts with its exact material list.
Go at your own pace
Pausing and scrubbing a video is slow. An image, an overlay or a numbered step waits for you. You move on when the blocks are down.
Works offline
In the app, a downloaded WBuilds guide keeps its steps, images and material list on your phone. A video needs internet the whole time. A schematic file works offline once you have it.
Chunk-style placement layouts
Each WBuilds step shows the new blocks on top of what you already built. A blueprint is a flat layer. A video shows a block only for the second it is placed. Schematica shows every block at once.
Organised, filterable library
550+ builds sorted by category and style, each with its difficulty and step count, and you can search by name. YouTube gives you a search box and thousands of random results. Schematica has no library. You hunt for files and hope they fit your game version.
Java, Bedrock and PE
WBuilds guides work on Java, Bedrock and Pocket Edition, so PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and phone players get a real step-by-step build guide. Schematica and Litematica are Java-only mods. Nothing like them exists on consoles. A video is whatever edition its creator plays.
No mods required
WBuilds, a video and a blueprint work on a plain copy of Minecraft, on any device. Schematica needs a mod loader, the right game version and a server that allows it. WBuilds guides are made by hand, step by step, so even a young player can follow them.

When a video or a schematic is still the better choice

If you want to watch someone design a build, hear why a roof was chosen, or see a colour palette tried and rejected, a video does something a step list cannot. That is taste, and taste does not turn into numbered steps.

Schematica has its moment too. If you play Java with mods and already have a build as a schematic file, a ghost overlay is the fastest way to lay it out.

WBuilds is for the other half of the job. You know what you want to build, and you want to build it yourself, on whatever edition you play, with no mods and no tab switching. Watch a video for ideas. Follow a guide to actually finish something.

See the difference on one build

Open any of the 550+ guides, look at the material list, and compare it with how you would have started from a video.
